• 3M™ AC-130 Surface Pre-Treatment Coatings

3M™ Surface Pre-Treatment AC-130 and AC-130-2 are high performance surface preparations for adhesive bonding. As sol-gel preparations, 3M™ AC-130 Pre-Treatment products promote enhanced adhesion as a result of the chemical interaction at the interfaces between the metal and the 3M™ AC-130 Pre-Treatment (sol-gel) and the 3M™ AC-130 Pre-Treatment and the primer.

Common surface preparation techniques such as phosphoric acid anodizing (PAA) or sulfuric acid-sodium dichromate etchings are used to provide acceptable surfaces for bonding. These hazardous materials and waste produced by these procedures are both environmentally and economically undesirable. 3M™ AC-130 Pre-Treatment provides an excellent environmentally friendly alternative to achieve the high performance required.

  • 3M™ AC-131 Surface Pre-Treatment Conversion Coatings

3M™ Surface Pre-Treatment AC-131 is a high-performance, non-chromated, conversion coating for applications on aluminum, nickel, and titanium alloys. The 3M™ AC-131 Pre-Treatment application is used for parts subsequently finished with epoxy-based and polyurethane-based organic coatings.

3M™ AC-131 Pre-Treatment provides an excellent solvent-free alternative to achieve the high performance required in aircraft paint applications. The current surface preparation technique such as Alodine® provides acceptable surfaces for coating applications. However, the alodine® process produces significant amounts of hazardous waste.

  • 3M™ AC-160 Adhesion Promoters

3M™ Adhesion Promoter AC-160 is a waterborne adhesion promoter for polysulfide sealant used on metal and/or solvent resistant coatings. It contains water blended with a surface activator agent, which produce an adhesion promoter meeting current industry VOC, ODC and HAP requirements.
